The Inktober event is really special to me. I started my dailies with Inktober in 2015 and found myself with no reason to stop on the following November 1st. I always find I learn something new with each year. I try to incorporate new materials and inks as a challenge to myself and found this year to be particularly rewarding. I tried inking with an ink brush and bottle for the first time, and loved it. Previously I was using my favorite pentel pocket brush pen and Copic markers.
I find that it takes me a couple days to loosen up and get my confidence with ink back. That’s when the experimentation, failure, and iterative learning begins, and is where I really start to get excited about pushing my comfort zone.
